Martina Metzger read political science and economics at the University of Bonn and the Free University of Berlin. After graduating in economics (Masters in Economics), she worked as an assistant lecturer, research assistant and non-tenured professor at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, the School of Business and Economics at the Free University of Berlin, and the University of Applied Sciences Berlin.
Her key areas of interest are problems of financial market development in emerging market economies, macroeconomic stabilization and sustainable development. She has published numerous books and articles in international journals on these subjects, lectured and presented papers on them at international conferences, including those of the International Economic Association, and organized conferences on them both in Germany and abroad. Her academic work has received funding from such bodies as the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Thyssen Foundation.
